SOUTH TYROL

A VATER & SOHN-SPECIAL

11–16 October 2026

Something entirely new. No — not South Tyrol as a destination for one of our offers; that’s by no means new.

What is new is the setup: making “Father & Son” a prerequisite for participation. Inspired by several father/son teams last year and in a few seasons before, this idea simply presented itself. For our concept of the FATHER/SON SPECIAL it hardly matters how old your son is, as long as he can enjoy 6–7 hours of pure driving time in the sports car (provided he isn’t driving himself). He should also be fine with eight hours’ sleep. It also doesn’t much matter how old dad is, as long as he too can enjoy 6–7 hours of pure driving time (again, if he isn’t behind the wheel). So quite young boys and rather elderly fathers could travel together in this group. That’s the idea: gentlemen of almost any age. Although we have no prior experience with all‑male groups, we look forward to the event with great anticipation and expect a cohesive, mutually supportive atmosphere in which competition plays no part.

What will we do together? Naturally, enjoy the power of each sports car. And enjoy one of the world’s most beautiful regions at an incredibly ideal time of year. The passes will be free of traffic; if there happens to be snow, we’ll detour to Lake Garda. Otherwise we seek altitude: the South Tyrolean Dolomites into the Veneto, the Trentino Dolomites, Monte Bondone, Stelvio and Gavia. We’re after the pure driving experience: the corner and you. The corner and all of you. In the evenings we’ll enjoy the hotel, Matthias Kirchler’s near‑star‑worthy cuisine, the company and a look back at what we’ve shared.

The programme is actually well illustrated in the film just below — except that a different chef was working at Hotel Bad Schörgau when those pictures were taken. He was excellent, but the current chef is (in our view) even much better. Of course the hut evening with Juliane and Benni at the Almgasthof Putzer Kreuz must not be missed — every time it’s an unforgettable event for our guests.

Dear sons: encourage your fathers! Dear fathers: see whether it suits your boy. A few determined participants have already signed up!

SOUTH TYROL

A FATHER & SON-SPECIAL

  • Sunday, October 11, 2026

Around 3:30 p.m. meeting point and a short driver briefing at the foot of the Silvretta. After that, one or more runs over the high‑alpine road. We’ll simply treat ourselves — possibly repeating the loop a few times (which, of course, will end at some point).

Then check‑in at Hotel Fluchthorn on the Tyrolean side and dinner there.

    Monday, October 12, 2026

Across beautiful Tyrolean country and mountain roads to the Italian border up at the Timmelsjoch. Then via Jaufenpass and Penser Joch into the Sarntal to Gregor Wenter at Hotel Bad Schörgau.

Either a schnitzel dinner (and we mean a genuine Wiener schnitzel with exactly the kind of French fries that will send any fry addict into raptures) or — very traditionally — a South Tyrol menu from the kitchen of Matthias Kirchler.

    Tuesday, October 13, 2026

If the weather allows, we’ll go all out: a major Dolomites loop taking in everything of note. Rosengarten, Nigerpass, Karerpass, Giau, Falzarego, Valparola, Würzjoch, Ritten, Grödner Joch, Fedaia, Sella, Campolongo, Pordoi and a few more passes lie relatively close together and combine into a sensational menu in any conceivable order. In the evening Gregor will cook himself (so he says) — we won’t miss that. Expect a sequence of traditional dishes with genuine Sarntal punch.

    Wednesday, October 14, 2026

Two options for a southward tour (Trentino Dolomites): one with Lake Levico as an intermediate stop, the other with Lake Garda as the culminating point. Which variant we choose will also depend a little on whether the Strada della Forra (which Churchill allegedly called the “eighth wonder of the world”) has been reopened to traffic by October 2025. If not, the Levico loop will be the more likely option and we’ll lead you over Monte Bondone to the exceptional Romanese brothers in Levico for an extraordinary tasting including a very special Trento DOC. Afterwards we’ll return via the Manghen Pass, etc., back to the hotel.

Shortly thereafter the shuttle to the “Kreuz” will be waiting for you: we’re headed up to Benni and Juliane at the Almgasthof Putzer Kreuz for what is literally the best speck (cured ham) in the world. A veritable “money‑can’t‑buy” event of the highest order will unfold before your eyes — in the parlor, beneath the little crucifix.

    Thursday, October 15, 2026

    Stelvio, Gavia, Tonale, Mendel!

For many, that list alone is enough to bring tears of eager anticipation and awe.

In the evening we’ll serve either the schnitzel already mentioned or “La Fuga,” the current concept menu of the Schörgau kitchen.

And then, tired, off to bed… OK, there is still the Schörgau bar…

    Friday, October 16, 2026

Individual departures. If you haven’t had enough, you can drive with us toward Switzerland — the Ofen Pass and Flüela would be options to delay the farewell a little longer.
