SCOTLAND – A ROAD MOVIE
16–25 APRIL 2026
If you want to discover the beauty of Scotland on the exclusive sports‑car tour advertised here — and it would truly be worth it for many an adventure‑loving sports‑car driver, we promise! — you should first listen to yourself and ask whether you are willing to give something up. What? Give something up? On such an exclusive luxury outing? Yes, you heard right!
You should be prepared to let go of the familiar, Mediterranean‑conditioned holiday expectations — at least if you don’t yet know the “North” (and Scotland is, after all, part of Northern Europe). If you do know the North, you’ll know what we mean. If you don’t know it and absolutely must have warmth and sunshine on holiday, then “SCOTLAND — THE ROAD MOVIE” is probably not for you. For good reason we also offer tours to Corsica, French Alps, Côte d’Azur, the Pyrenees and South Tyrol in our program.
But if you are curious, or your love of the North already holds a firm place in your soul, then do consider Scotland as a sports‑car tour in April 2026. We, for one, love this country — and the people up here on the British isle. We love the land and the people of clans, kilts and tartan, the Highland Games and the bagpipes. During our road movie you will experience Scotland’s Highlands, the far north and the jewel of the Scottish isles: Skye! The enchanting magic of this region is especially felt on the lonely stretches that cut through the breathtaking austerity of moor, rock and heather. At the same time, every remote corner of Scotland is steeped in history: here the clan warriors fought the English, there Mary Stuart fled her guards, and elsewhere lies the heart of the great Bruce.
The scenery offers plenty of film backdrops — Highlander, Rob Roy, Braveheart and James Bond come to mind. The photo here, however, shows a slice of the advertised “ROADMOVIE” at Loch Maree in the ruggedly beautiful Wester Ross. Dreamily winding roads, solitary, thrilling because undulating and featuring blind crests and hidden dips — you’ll sometimes climb a little rise and not know what’s beyond. One thing is certain: it will be twisty!
To offset the potentially harsh nature, wind and weather, we place award‑winning hotels on the itinerary. From Europe’s first “*****Virgin Hotel” in Edinburgh (with the option to book a suite marketed “Sir Richard’s Flat” – could understatement be more beautiful?), through a selection of 4‑ and 5‑star boutique destinations, you will experience Scotland’s hospitality at the highest level. Two nights at The Torridon Resort, a small ultra‑posh hunting lodge on Loch Torridon, and you’ll feel like an old‑established Scottish lady or her Laird. This format is for “road‑movie” enthusiasts who really want to see and experience a lot — and, seasonally speaking, for early birds.

Meeting point will be Edinburgh. There we’ll meet in the afternoon of 16 April for a briefing. Of course we have organised vehicle transport for you in the background, and — in close coordination with you — we will also arrange the transfer from the airport to the hotel. So you can travel comfortably by plane; we’ll manage “the rest” together.
And then your Scotland experience really begins. Your first evening in Edinburgh will be themed “A Taste of Scotland.” The next day we’ll lead you — roughly following the compass needle north — toward the Cairngorm Mountains. You’ll admire the Queen’s View and tackle the Duke’s Pass. Lunch will be with Tom Lewis (more of a Duke, really) at Loch Voil. Day by day the route will take you in a broad semicircle — as if sketched by the shaky yet determined hand of a three‑year‑old, with many scribbly detours to the most beautiful spots — from the far north of the UK down to Scotland’s wild west coast. You will see the Duncansby Stacks by the roadside, visit a completely non‑touristy working distillery, taste one of the country’s best and most revealing whisky flights, and experience the Highlands on a variety of unique roads: some single‑track with passing places, others perfect two‑lane asphalt ribbons. All of this set in incomparable nature — wild, rugged, harsh; barren, grey and sublime. You’ll pass countless, unavoidable lochs that either shine a blue so intense it seems unearthly, or stare back at you in the dullest greys — equally elemental.
Then comes the WEST: more rugged, more wooded, and even harsher — the west wind shapes the scenery here, making it wilder and more varied. Is it more beautiful? Maybe — certainly different. The best thing at this time of year: little to no tourism, no midges (biting midges), and noticeably longer days than in Central Europe (sunset in Edinburgh around 20:30, on the west coast almost 21:00).
When you see The Torridon Resort ahead, you’ll be approaching the 6th and 7th nights (of nine total). Here you’ll have the option to take one of up to two rest days and let what you’ve experienced sink in — a perfect place to relax. If you want to continue exploring Scotland behind the wheel, join us on the tour’s longest driving day to the Isle of Skye. Skye, often uncomfortably touristy in high season, reveals its beauty in the quieter times of year, such as April.
Admire the Quiraing, the Old Man of Storr, the Rock Falls and, if time allows, the view to the famous lighthouse at Neist Point. Via the Kilcamb Lodge — another multi‑award‑winning boutique hotel in the middle of nowhere — we’ll lead you back east.
You’ll experience Glencoe, the crazy stretches around Loch Leven, possibly the oyster bar at Loch Fyne, and the little mountain pass “Rest And Be Thankful,” where Jackie Stewart once ran illegal races with his friends. Later you’ll return to Tim Lewis, the chef of the first lunch on this route, and stay at his small country hotel on Loch Voil. And so the circle closes. The scribbly semicircle first drawn by a three‑year‑old’s hand should, we hope, have become a proper, perfectly rounded experience for you.
